Winter Palooza took place on Friday & Saturday, February 19 & 20, 2010. The Grant Tavern created this two-day event, and they asked the Chamber for some assistance with a Chili Cook-off.
The 7th Annual Grant Frontier Festival is scheduled for Friday & Saturday, August 20 & 21, 2010. Regular Chamber meetings are the second Wednesday of every month.
Santa Claus Made a Stop In Grant ! On Saturday, December 12, 2009. He arrived on the train at 11:30am and was taken to the Community Center by a horse drawn sleigh. There he met around 250 children and had photos taken with each of them. This free event would not be possible without the generous donations and participation from our member businesses and volunteers. The photos requested of santa with children are now available for pick up at the Chamber office. Check out the Photo Gallery for some of the pictures taken of this FREE community event brought to you by your Grant Area Chamber of Commerce.
Equinox '09
An Adventure For All Ages was held on Saturday, September 19, 2009
with registration at the Newaygo County Sports Park, M-37
We did not have as many participants as we had hoped for this first year, but we are hopeful the 2010 event will grow. The day-long celebration of the outdoors for the whole family brought opportunities to try kayaking/canoeing on the Muskegon River and Chain of Lakes, taking the guided hike on the North Country Trail at Loda Lake, biking on the Town and Country Trail in Fremont, as well as off-road biking. We even offered geocaching (the GPS guided form of scavenger hunting) for our first annual event. For those who preferred a longer bike ride, a cross country bike ride out of Grant (The Grant Area Chamber hosted this event!) did spark the interest of nearly a dozen riders. A kids' camp was offered at Camp Henry for a mini version of this day-long event, as well as the High Ropes Course they have set up right at camp. At 7pm everyone enjoyed the Green Sky Bluegrass concert at the Dogwood in Fremont, and then enjoyed night sky stargazing at Stephen Wessling Observatory.
Sponsor Opportunities for future Equinox events will be added by spring 2011, or by contacting Lori at the Newaygo County CVB at (231)652-9298 ext 13 or on the web at www.newaygocountytourism.com under the Events tab.
